Jordan Gaudreau
Student in Sudbury, ON, Canada
I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. I am an only child and still have close ties to my family and extended family. Growing up, I always valued the arts over the sciences. I would actively avoid taking science and math classes in order to take English, French, music and art classes. This passion has carried over into my academic career, as I am completing a major in English literature and a minor in French as a Second Language. Since I was a child, I have always been interested in video games, art and fitness. As I have grown up, I turned my hobbies into career paths I can pursue by working out every day, drawing every day and playing video games competitively. In the past, I was ranked top 1000 in Mortal Kombat 10, top 100 in Blazblue Crosstag Battle, and I was the number one player in North America for Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Nowadays, I play League of Legends for Laurentian’s varsity team. My goal for the future is to merge my academic and personal interests. I am aiming to receive a master’s degree in the study of narrative in video games. I think that the teaching profession is for me because I love being the one to incite learning in children. Seeing the expression of a child who learned something they thought was impossible makes any other hardship worth it! I believe in positive thinking and having a growth mindset. I am excited to start my teaching career!
