Gavin Shilling

Gavin is a native of New Hampshire where he attended Villa Augustina School (K-2), Riddle Brook Elementary and McKelvie Intermediate Schools (2-5), and The Derryfield School (6-11). He works tirelessly in his academic and athletic endeavors to fulfill his insatiable love of learning and drive for success. Highest Honors at The Derryfield School throughout his high school career and a 4.0 GPA (unweighted) are a few of his accomplishments, and he particularly loves the sciences and math. Gavin has enjoyed participating in Model United Nations since his Freshman year and looks forward to leading the school’s team his Senior year. As Head Ambassador, Gavin organizes events to acquaint new and prospective families with Derryfield and to welcome newly admitted students and families. Similar to his success in the classroom and school community, Gavin has enjoyed his success on the tennis courts and ski slopes (and sometimes on the golf courses). A couple of achievements that Gavin is particularly proud of are his USTA tennis ranking of 32 in the Boys 14 New England Division and reaching the USSA New Hampshire State Alpine Ski Championships. Gavin helped the Derryfield Varsity Alpine Ski Team win the State Championship his Freshman and Junior years (2014 and 2016), and aided the Derryfield Varsity Tennis Team to the State Championship his Freshman year (2014). Gavin also enjoys traveling the world. The Derryfield South African student exchange program with the Wynberg Boy’s School in Cape Town was a formative experience for him. Gavin enjoyed teaching his host student how to ski and discovered his passion for rugby and braais (a South African barbecue) in South Africa while making life-long friends. In addition, Gavin has traveled internationally to France, Belgium, and Canada, participated in a Native American service project in Arizona, and loves to ski the big mountains out West. This summer Gavin will attend the Engineering Innovation Program at John's Hopkins University and is excited to intern with Cornerstone Reputations.
