Gayathri Pattnam

Mumbai, India

I am a young professional living in India’s most interesting city – Mumbai, the city where you can shop in the local trains and where you can buy books by the kilo!

I am currently working at PwC.

In my spare time, I read, write, listen to music, watch the sun set and feed my curiosity.

As Calvin says: It’s a magical world, Hobbes, Ol’ Buddy… Let’s go exploring! (Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson)

A few interesting things about me:

1. I love the concept of Six Word Stories – Brevity is an important and useful skill. I aim to write 50 such stories, and so far I have written 10 of them.

2. My favorite part of my work day is the first one hour. I always try to make it to work at least 15 minutes early because it gives me so much more control over the rest of the day. I make a list of things to do, read a couple of news articles, and have a cup of hot tea.

3. I enjoy cleaning. Whenever I am not in a good mood, I clean my room and wardrobe. I find the cleaning process to be cathartic. I equate cleaning the clutter in the physical space to cleaning the clutter in my mind.

4. I am the youngest person in my department.

5. One of my favorite childhood memories is lying down on the terrace on a hot summer night and falling asleep looking at the stars.

6. Three of my happiest days at PwC: Closing my first deal, winning two performance awards and seeing my name in an industry report published by PwC.

7. I think the most amazing literary and art work that I have come across in recent times is the Sandman by Neil Gaiman. The illustrations and the storyline are out of the world!

8. The best food that I have ever had was in a temple in a little town in South India called Trichy.

9. Having witnessed several friends and relatives struggle because of poor financial management, my ambition is to do *something* that bridges this gap in knowledge in people!

10. I have received the best professional (and life) advice from my boss: "KISS! (Keep it Simple, Stupid!)", "When talking to people about something, imagine that they have only 30 seconds - get to the point and FAST!", "Your only job is to impress - be it clients or colleagues."
