Gayle L. Gifford, ACFRE

I'm President of Cause & Effect Inc. Our consulting services can strengthen your governance, improve your programming, build stronger relationships with your constituents, or boost your revenues. We work with secular and progressive nonprofits and public agencies through a broad range of consulting services.

I’ve spent my own time in the trenches, organizing for peace, environmental, human and civil rights. I served as Director of Development and Communications at PLAN USA, as Deputy Director/Director of Development and Marketing at Save The Bay, and as Director of Development at CityYear RI before launching this business in 1996 with master communicator Jon Howard.

In 2002, I earned the advanced fundraising credential, ACFRE, from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a distinction held by only 100 or so fundraisers worldwide.

In addition to consulting, I speak, write and teach, having taught graduate courses as an adjunct at Brown University and Simmons College. (Give me a call if you are interested in any of our workshops).

I’m a volunteer and board member myself, current serving as board secretary at Blackstone Academy Charter School and WaterFire Providence. I also serve on the Advisory Council for Latino Dollars for Scholars of Rhode Island and the RI Museum of Science and Art.
