Poet Joseph Gaylloyd Sissón, with graduate studies at California State colleges, Harvard, and Columbia University has had a thirty-seven-year career in education teaching Language Arts. His work runs the gamut from odd, yet interesting essays to lighthearted anecdotes, and autobiographical commentaries on the meaning of life, and human nature.
He is a member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, the African American Writers Alliance, the Sumner Scribes, and Renton Writers Workshop. His poems, published under his middle name, can be found in Columbia City Gallery, on Mt. Vernon’s nature trail and library, North Cascades Institute and The Poet in Sacramento, California.
Gaylloyd actively promotes writers as in 2018 he hosted Burien’s open mic Humble Vine Poetry Gig. You’ll also find him reading his poetry at other local venues such as Phoenix Tea House, West Seattle’s C & P Coffee Company, Columbia City and Green Lake Library, Seward Park’s Third Place Books, and others. He lives with his wife, Kathleen.
As a creative thinker, he’s a wishful humorist, generally acceptable public speaker, unmotivated auto mechanic, and licensed motorist. A former computer geek, and entrepreneur,he survives Washington’s rainy season reading good books, indulging in black coffee, and eating lots of dark chocolate.
