Geane Alzamora

She is undergraduated in Social Communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais/Brazil (1990), Master (1996) and PHD (2005) in Communication and Semiotics from the Catholic University of São Paulo/Brazil (1996), having developped part of her PHD in Interdisziplinären Arbeitsgruppe Kulturforschung der Universität Kassel / Germany. She was professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais between 1995 and 2009, where she integrated the permanent staff of the Graduate Program in Communication from 2007; coordinated the Research Center in Communication (CEPEC) between 1999 and 2006; and coordinated the research group and hypermedia Communication Networks (CNPq / PUC Minas) between 2004 and 2010. Since January 2010 she is professor at UFMG, where is part of the permanent staff of Program in Social Communication and also teaches at under graduation course.She is grantee productivity (CNPq), researcher at the Center for New Media Convergence (CNPq / UFMG) and collaboratively National Institute of Science and Technology WEB (InWeb). Currently she is developing a postdoctoral research at the University Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona / Spain). She has experience in Communications with an emphasis in Semiotics and Communication Theories, acting on the following themes: social media, convergence and transmedia journalism.
