The picture is of a custom sensor module that non-invasively monitors pool equipment motors both on/off status and if there is water in the pipe (don't want a $600 motor to dry-pump and burn out!)... monitoring is done non-invasively (no drilling into pipe, no direct electrical connections to the motor). Module talks to an Nanode (Arduino clone with ethernet) base controller that posts the data to Xively.com... see links.
