She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on the 4th of July. She was a standout scholar athlete in high school. She was offered numerous basketball and Academic scholarships. She achieved her BS degree with honors, cum laude. She obtained a dual degree in Mathematics and Spanish. Her minor field of study was Sociology. She played in numerous countries and the WNBA. Genai Walker Macklin continued to work towards and achieve her M.S. in Health Science while living abroad and playing tough basketball schedules. She also received another advanced certification in Spanish Studies from the Universidad de Huelva while in Spain. Towards the end of 2012, Genai unlaced her basketball shoes and decided to retire from playing professionally. She has been in the Sales/Financial industry for over 18 years. She is very active in her community.
