Gena Joella Sylvester is a 3rd year Honours BBA student at Wilfrid Laurier University with a passion for creativity and instrumenting social change. As an active member of the community, Gena spearheaded Brampton's first Alliance Against Violence Against Youth Concert.The initiative began in 2009 with a strong determination to promote peaceful relations among students, and an email to the manager of Canadian Pop Star Danny Fernandes. With the support of Brampton's Mayor, the Alliance Against Violence Concert has transformed into an annual event, bringing together over 1600 students from across the city; and has featured guest performances by Danny Fernandes, Shawn Desman, Alyssa Reid and Neverest. Gena's next goal is to start her own organization, focusing on mentoring youth to help them realize their true potential.
Having held postions such as Student Trustee of the DPCDSB and Marketing Intern for Capital Communications, Gena is making her mark in the workforce as well. Currently she is employed as a Marketing Analyst at Microsoft Canada, working on Windows Phone, MSN, and Bing.
