Janene Gentile's paintings are a synthesis of her life's textural diversity. Each painting is filled with musical scores of reparative forms that become expressive imprints on canvas. Her abstract forms are rhythmic tonalities of emotional interplay, similar to musical notes in a song. Gentile’s art is inspired by the color of music, sound of the spirit and the emotions that exist in our living environment. The influential force of "Color" is her keyboard, her eyes are the hammer, and her soul is the piano with the strings. She is inspired by the poetry of living forms as well as the ethereal world; the color of wind, the smell of rain, the texture of snow, the salty taste of tears, the discord of the broken heart, the color of love, the music of the road and the rhythms of change that are created each time people come and go. Her work is alive with color, form and rhythm, and yet each piece embodies the stillness of the moment. This is the "Moment of the Drama" -- the stir of the human spirit – that shapes Gentile’s world of Abstract Expressionism.

It is "Art for Art’s sake,” the movement influenced by generations of musicians, actors and poets who long to explore and invent. She has a compulsive need to create automatic drawings, color fields derived from psychic impressions, and images of the DADA period.

"The oceans overcome me with the drama of an emotional sea.” She soaks in her salt sea that stings her every cell as it fills her with musical compositions, the ocean of enormity fills her empty spaces pulling and pushing against the vast skyscrapers and land line.
