Geoffrey Girnun is an experienced biomedical researcher with expertise in oncology and its interface with metabolism. In particular, Dr. Girnun has studied how metabolic pathways that are involved in obesity and diabetes are also key players in oncology. These studies focused on fundamental questions of cancer formation and growth as well as therapeutic development. Dr. Geoffrey Girnun earned his BS and PhD from the University of Iowa where he studied the connection between essential fatty acids, which we know today are beneficial for maintaining healthy cells, and how they regulate enzymes in cells that protect oxidant stress.
