Georg Rehm

My main area of expertise deals with language technology, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, text technology, computer-mediated communication, semantic web and next generation search engines. Back in 2006 I did my PhD on a rather broad topic that is concerned with the automatic identification of different types of web documents, mainly based on their communicative purpose. After my studies at the University of Osnabrück, PhD work and many other tasks that included giving lectures and seminars, administration, applying for grants etc. at the University of Giessen, I spent three years at the University of Tübingen as a PostDoc. In 2009 we built eyePlorer, a semantic search engine with a graphical interface, in a web search start-up called vionto GmbH in Berlin. In early 2010 I joined the Language Technology Lab of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) to run META-NET, a EU-funded network of excellence that consists of 60 research centres in 34 countries. I'm the author or editor of several books, a book series with currently 31 volumes, several special editions of journals and authored or co-authored more than 50 research papers.
