George Georgiou

Born in Nicosia. Parents from occupied Assia and Lefkoniko. Mr Georgiou is the founder (1999) and managing director of Novatex Solutions. He graduated from the Higher Technical Institute in Cyprus as Technician in Mechanical engineering (1990) with a Final Year Project “Computer Aided Design of shading devices in Buildings” and was among the first to write a special software involving solar calculations and energy in Buildings.

He continued his studies in Manchester to obtain a B.Eng(hons) in mechanical engineering and with his final year project “automatic pallet feeder” he had the chance to design, construct and develop a system and also the software for use in robotic assembly and automation. He further continued he studies and got a postgraduade degree in Scientific Instrumentation (MSc) (1995) from the Manchester Metropolitan University designing a developing a software (a virtual instrument) using Labview and National Instruments data acquisition cards for use in the anaesthesiology department of the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

He worked as full time Lecturer in the Frederick University (former Frederick Institute of Technology) where he had the opportunity to teach mechanical engineering and control engineering topics and also supervise many students projects.

He has also worked in private institutions teaching Windows MS Office, EXCEL, ACCESS and other software and also developed many application using MS Access. He has participated in many conferences and workshops on instrumentation, measurement, control systems, and IT sector in many Countries.

Since 2006 he has also participated in three Research projects at a national level as a Scientist in Charge and also as a project coordinator with a total budget of more than 750,000 euros. with topics related to wi-fi, wireless sensors, Internet applications, databases and other related technologies. These projects involved Universities (TEPAK) Government departments and also private companies. Recently he has been involved in the preparation of many FP 7 proposals with topics related to sensing, energy, and control. He is also proposing Student projects to universities
