George Drazenovic

Since early 2020, George Drazenovic has been a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, BC, where he has taught courses in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. He also served as Chair of Undergraduate Programs for almost four years. Before entering academia, he worked in the private sector, leading several resource-focused ventures within the junior public markets.

George's areas of expertise include HR management, recruiting, business development, financial reporting, capital budgeting, strategic planning, capital markets, regulatory compliance, and investment valuation. He began at UCW as an MBA instructor and was later promoted to Associate Professor. In 2021, he took on the Chair position, reporting directly to the VP of Academics. Under his leadership, both student enrollment and faculty numbers grew more than tenfold by the end of 2024. He led efforts in curriculum development, governance, industry collaboration, strategic initiatives, budget planning, and compliance.

George was responsible for overseeing three undergraduate programs: Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce (ACBSP-accredited), and Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, supporting over 5,500 students and more than 200 faculty. He participated as a voting member on several university committees, including Senate, Curriculum, Governance, Admissions Appeals, and Quality Assurance. He led the consent renewal for all programs and introduced or updated many courses.

George developed academic structures that improved leadership and faculty support while enhancing program delivery and student success. He aligned the accounting curriculum with the CPA Western School of Business and introduced technology-focused courses and certification programs to expand professional pathways. His leadership also brought improvements to curriculum processes, scheduling, and the implementation of a new learning management system. He contributed to faculty mentorship, DEI efforts, and student engagement through events like Pitch Night and career-focused initiatives.

Before UCW, he held roles as CFO, CEO, and Director for several public companies. He led a mining exploration company through project acquisitions and drilling operations and supported a pharmaceutical firm by securing funding and advancing clinical research.

George Drazenovic continues to make meaningful contributions to education, leadership, and research through his broad experience and focused approach.
