According to its definition, family is a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. In my opinion, family consists of people who are always there for you unconditionally. Family plays an essential role in my life. I cannot imagine going through anything without them.

I love my extended family, but I love my immediate family so much more since they are closer to me. My immediate family includes my father, sister, and brother. My mother passed away in 2008. My parents migrated from Ghana and had me and my siblings all in Georgia. My father has raised my siblings and me since my mom died. Through that tragic event, we became a stronger unit. This is why I say family plays an essential role in my life. We all support each other in our endeavors. This love and support has shaped me in the person I am today. I consider myself as loving, empathetic, and supportive. I am not trying to make myself look perfect or anything, but I truly feel that my family has molded me into that person. My father took on the role as a single parent, and I have to watch him do many things by himself. This experience makes me empathetic to similar situations. As the oldest among my siblings, I had to step up and help them and my father. It made me supportive and a stronger person.. I would not be able to get where I am today without my family.
