Final Project

This collection of songs incorporates the voice, real piano, violin and choir used in a contemporary classical style combined with minimal glitch electronic elements using a progressive compositional method. Synthetic choirs have been used throughout as a platform for the solo instruments and use of MIDI, piano and cello mixed in with the original recorded instruments. The voices have been used in a neo-classical form with traditional 'holy choral' style of choir composition but with modern chromatics, simple use of melody and dissonance. The violin is used in a chamber music style dominating the melody with a varied rhythm while the other instruments play the chords. This compositional style has been inspired by artists such as Avro Part and John Adams. Inspiration from glitch styles has been used by samples of 'found sounds' programmed into EX24 and manipulated to create some distorted, mechanical and unidentifiable sounds. Artists such as Vladislav Delay, Alvo Noto and Ikeda were inspired by this.
