Dr. Elysee brings a unique combination of academic and administrative leadership to the Health Information Technology (IT) education domain, coupled with quantitative research experience in more than one discipline, and extensive industry experience.

Dr. Elysee is a professor and the chair of of Health IT programs, including the new Public Health and Data Analytics tracks, at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology. An honors PhD graduate from Capella University School of Business and Technology, specializing in IT management, Dr. Elysee enjoys integrating demystification and positive education in his teachings to explain concepts that are complex and difficult to understand.

In addition to teaching chairing the Health IT programs, Dr. Elysee is active in research focusing on three principal themes: (1) understanding the relationships between critical Health IT capabilities, such as interoperability, electronic health information exchange, and medication reconciliation, (2) determining how these capabilities impact healthcare outcomes, and (3) assessing how organizational factors can mediate these relationships.

Funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), his latest research with colleagues from Yale University and NYU Langone Medical Center examined the association between 30-day readmission rates and health information technology capabilities in US hospitals, and found that giving patients electronic access to their health information may help lower hospital readmission risk.
