Geraldine Middleton
Educational consultant Geraldine Middleton has extensive experience in a number of positions in the educational system, from instruction and administration to teacher evaluation and curriculum design. In her current position with The Masonboro Group, Geraldine Middleton has assisted a number of school districts with instructional audits, feasibility studies, academic training, and school improvement plans. Before joining The Masonboro Group, Ms. Middleton worked as Chief Area Officer with the Chicago Public Schools, where she designed a performance management system to help the district improve local schools and increase achievement. From 2007 to 2009, Geraldine Middleton worked as Superintendent of Halifax County Schools, where she oversaw every department in the school district, promoted community involvement, and represented the district to the public. Geraldine Middleton has also served as the Deputy Superintendent of Instruction and Curriculum for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, Associate Superintendent of District 20 of the Charleston County School District, and Principal of Brawley Middle School. While serving Brawley Middle School as Principal between 1997 and 2000, Geraldine Middleton led the school’s improvement efforts, in a single year developing the institution from a struggling school to a School of Distinction. Geraldine Middleton also improved involvement with parents at the school, created a school-wide professional development plan, and was chosen as Halifax County Principal of the Year in 2000. Geraldine Middleton attended Saint Augustine’s College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Welfare in 1972. She then served for a year as a kindergarten teacher before she joined the New Jersey Teacher Corporation and began work toward her next degree. As a student at Montclair State University, Geraldine Middleton completed her Master of Arts in Social Studies and Correctional Education in 1979. She also earned an Educational Specialist from East Carolina University in 1995 and is currently working on her Doctor of Education in Educational Administration and Policy Studies at Wayne State University.
