From my education at Cornell and Harvard, to the successful vision for Mentor Graphics, to OVP Venture Partners, my participation in 30-plus years of Oregon’s economic growth has been creative and ambitious. Now, I’m using my experience to teach you how to succeed through my book - The Success Matrix - Winning in Business and in Life (available at Amazon)

After co-founding and leading Mentor Graphics, the fastest-growing public software company to $200M in constant dollar sales ($400M in current $) in US history, I have spent almost three decades as a Managing Director at OVP Venture Partners. We have overseen $750 million in capital, focusing on early-stage companies in vital industries: clean-tech, digital biology, information technology. We have backed over 125 start-ups and seen over 55 liquidity events, including 25 IPOs and a host of public acquisitions, including my first "unicorn" in 2020.

I have served as a board member with early-stage technology companies in software, cleantech, communications, digital media, security, and biotech - including 6 public companies, with other important board member roles in the not-for-profit sector including the Riverdale Public School District, the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI), the Oregon Facilities Authority and the Oregon Growth Board.

In 2020, I concluded an enjoyable and educational 3-year volunteer stint at a new adventure helping encourage more voter engagement in our democracy (and push back on voter suppression) as Director of Research and Communications at the National Vote at Home Institute. www.voteathome.org
