Get Around
I usually have a huge problem with organizations that are crooked or dishonest in some way. Take for instance, Getaround, they're not operating in Los Angeles, but they lead you on to believe they are. They are famous for being Eco Friendly less expensive alternative. But look at this, the only car theyre renting. It goes for a $1000 a day. ( I'm shaking my head at how dishonest and ridiculous these people are ) The fun doesnt stop there.
They make you enter your information, yes, your address, your tlephone number, everything, and then they tell you, ohh, you need to have a Facebook account to continue, why dont you open a facebook account, you need to have one in order to continue. Wow. Are you kidding me?
The honest thing here would be to state ahead of time you need to have a facebook account. The crooked thing to do is to make you waste your time entering every little bit of personal information about you, so they have you, and then say, oh, wait, you need to open a Facebook account before you go any further. Why? So you can Stalk me? I dont ever recall Hertz or Avis telling me you need to join some social network before we allow you to rent a car. And their costs far less than a $1000 day.
This is a strange company.
I have a lot of problems with dishonesty and these guys seem to be nice on the outside, but looking a little closer, and they seem to be like any other busienss. Just in it to make a buck, at any cost. Dont say you have service in LA when you dont. Dont force people against their will to sign up for some half assed dying social network as a necessary prerequisite for going forward. If you require that, be forthright. Say so upfront and in advance. (The truth probably is that they know if tellyou upfront you need to have a facebook account they would be driving you away. But now they have your address and phone number, to hustle you.)
One of the more bizarre things is selling people on a falsity that magically there will be less cars on the road. How does that work? if 10 people need to use a car, then they will occupy the same space whether or not the car is theirs. There is no "Environmental Saving" here. To the contrary, you have the Additional cost of needing to go back and forth to the car you are sharing, and you'll be washing it more often for the next customer. All contrary ecoclaims. Like I said. Not a nice a company. In it to make a buck even at a cost to basic math.
