Nicky Getgood

Student and Museum custodian in Stromness, UK

I’m Nicky Getgood. I'm currently studying towards a Master's in Art History with the Open University after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Humanities in 2019. I have a part-time job as a museum custodian, which I love.

Previous work experience includes helping people across the UK create community websites and online profiles with Talk About Local, supporting the design and development of E-learning solutions and material for Cardiff University and providing Building Communities Trust's Invest Local programme with communications and administrative support.

My love for the communities I live in led me to establishing the Digbeth is Good hyperlocal profile, creating RoathTots for fellow local parents and organising Llanishen Residents' Group via Facebook and face-to-face/online meetings to discuss issues and developments in the area. Since moving to Orkney, I’ve supported the Orkney Arts Society as a volunteer membership secretary, website builder and social media manager.

I also recently volunteered with JHASW's Cardiff Reform Synagogue Holocaust Memorial Tablet project, researching and writing the biographies of 6 victims named on the tablet.
