Geerte Frenken

Geerte Frenken received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from De Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, The Netherlands (1987). Upon completion she was awarded with The Andy Warhol Scholarship, which enabled her to receive a rare Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Art Anatomy and Renaissance Techniques from The New York Academy of Art, NYC (1991).

She then opened art gallery “Figure it out…” in New York City where she produced and exhibited her fine art and worked as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and fine art printer. She went on to receive additional education in 3D animation at New York University’s Center for Advanced Digital Applications (1999), which lead her to become the Lead 3D Character Designer, Modeler, Texture Artist and Rigger at Pulse Entertainment in San Francisco working for clients such as Warner Brothers, Nike, NBC, Britney Spears, Budweiser, Mattel, CBS etc.

Geerte Frenken joined the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2006 as a Subject Matter Expert and Adjunct Faculty member in the Media Arts and Animation Department. In 2007 she accepted a Full-Time Faculty position in the Graphic Design Department where she has been teaching the fine art and illustration courses. Geerte Frenken continues to produce and exhibit her fine art worldwide.
