Record Label and Collective in Toronto
GHO$TOWN RECORD$ (GTR) is a Toronto-based creative collective and independent record label operating at the intersection of Hip Hop, R&B, and Alternative Jazz. Founded by Ghostboyrj, GTR has grown into a collaborative hub for artists, producers, videographers, and multidisciplinary creatives focused on pushing sound and culture forward through experimentation and community.
At the core of GTR is a commitment to collective creation. Through weekly studio sessions, the collective has brought together over 60 emerging and established artists across the Greater Toronto Area, creating an environment rooted in collaboration, mentorship, and artistic risk-taking. These sessions serve as both a creative incubator and cultural exchange — blending soulful sampling, live instrumentation, and forward-thinking production with raw, narrative-driven songwriting.
GTR’s sound is defined by its ability to merge traditional Hip Hop foundations with jazz-influenced arrangements and genre-fluid experimentation. Projects like Loop Pack (2025) showcase this cypher-style approach, documenting the energy of Toronto’s underground scene while highlighting the diversity of voices within the collective. Their work has led to distribution partnerships with URBNET and support across platforms including radio, editorial playlists, and independent media.
Beyond music releases, GTR functions as a cultural platform — developing visual content, live events, and creative programming that expand how independent artists connect with audiences. Their work emphasizes accessibility, offering space and opportunity for underrepresented creatives to develop professionally while contributing to a larger artistic vision.
As both a label and community-driven ecosystem, GHO$TOWN RECORD$ continues to shape a distinct voice within Toronto’s evolving music landscape — one rooted in collaboration, innovation, and the preservation of authentic, artist-led culture.
