ghostscrawl

My work explores the darker side of pop culture, usually with tongue firmly in cheek. I have always been drawn to the gothic subculture and imagined worlds. With influences as diverse as traditional artists like Degas to more contemporary ones like James Jean, nods to comics and horror shows, quirky narratives are explored, revealing tiny, hidden worlds. Some of my works question the accepted mythos and subverts the expected. Others are simply a visual representation of my mind’s monologues and diatribes.

Having been a musician for more then 10 years, I am now turning my attention to the area of visual arts. I prefer to illustrate primarily with a pencil and fill a sketchbook a month with sketches and doodles. None of it is intentional. Hopefully, the illustration can speak for itself and not require an accompanying lengthy 250 page statement. Each viewer takes something a little different from the same picture, there isn’t a right or wrong. I hope that my art makes you smile or frown and that you will take something from all this. Perhaps a little respite from reality.
