Gideon Ofosu- Peasah
Natural Resource Economist, Energy Management Expert, and Consultant in Accra, Ghana
Gideon is an Extractive, Energy and Climate Specialist and a Leadership Specialist and SpeakerPreneur by passion. He is Deputy Director at the Africa Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability where he leads in research, training, policy analysis and advocacy on energy, mining and environmental issues. He serves as an expert panel member on the political economy analysis of Ghana’s extractive sector. This platform is convened by the Columbia Center for Sustainable Investment/ STAR-Ghana/CSPOG.
Prior to this he served as steering committee member of the Media Coalition against Illegal Mining and consulted for the Natural Resource Governance Institute and DW Akademie. He made inputs to the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs on the RTI Bill. He was Coordinator for the Civil Society working group on Ghana’s first oil block licensing rounds. He has held positions in nonprofits and the private sector as a Program Manager, Extractive Policy Analyst and Data Analyst and has ten years overall working experience. He has served in various leadership capacities. The most recent been a member of the University Council and GRASAG President of UENR.
He is an Australia Award Scholar and was listed top seven rising energy stars in the 2018 Ghana Energy Awards. He is an Environmental Management Fellow at the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany and a Climate Finance Fellow at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management k. Gideon has received extensive training in natural resource and economic governance at the University of Queensland-Australia, Central European University-Hungary and the University of Energy and Natural Resources. He holds an HND in Statistics, BSc in Statistics and MSc in Economics. He has published two scholarly research papers, one book, four policy papers, ten advocacy articles and over twenty-five (25) news articles in the prestigious Social Science Research Network electronic journal, Business and Financial Times, Daily Graphic, Graphic Business and various online platforms. He contributes to the international and national discourse on energy, mining and economic issues on media platforms including Aljazeera,Joy news, GhOne TV3,Starr Fm, Accra Fm, Class FM etc.
