Giel Stein

Since 2009, Giel Stein has served as assistant regional counsel for the Social Security Administration (SSA), in which role he handles federal hearings and appeals before various government boards, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Merit Systems Protection Board, and the Office of Federal Operations. Prior to joining the SSA, Giel Stein spent nearly a decade as a litigation associate in private practice.

Giel Stein earned a bachelor of arts in political science and a master of arts in social science at the University of Chicago. Subsequently, he completed his juris doctor at the Northwestern University School of Law, where he served as associate editor of the Law Review. He also received a doctor of philosophy in sociology from Northwestern University, writing his dissertation on persuasion theory and jury decision making.

An avid traveler, Giel Stein has visited numerous countries in Europe, as well as destinations in Thailand, Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica. He also enjoys listening to classical music and reading novels.
