Gigi D'Errico
Nagoya, Japan
It all starts with a guitar and the brother of my grandmother who says to me: "son, you are young and you play well but if you'll never want to starve sing napolitan songs, leave this city and don't marry!". I was 16.
From that day 30 years are rolled by me, and I've played napolitan songs in over 300 venues in twenty nations, I've left my city and I am not married.
Winner of international concourses, honoured by my hometown with the Award Domenico Cimarosa, the scholarship Pietro Gargano has put me in his encyclopedia of Napolitan Songs. One of the few living musicians.
Italian, from Napoli, actually based in Nagoya - Japan, I work as producer and as musician.
As producer, I've realized dozens of events related to the italian culture: food and beverage, art, cinema, current news. But specially I've produced in the city of Nagoya big events promoted by the Italian Embassy and the Institute of Culture. Concerts of the top world contemporary pianists Ludovico Einaudi (2011) and Stefano Bollani (2013). I've worked as artistic director for an event by the Toyota Foundation "La festa dei napoletani" (2010).
Actually, I work as artistic director and event planner with main hotel and resorts companies such as: XIV Resort Trust, ANA Hotel Nagoya, Swissotel Osaka. I am resident musician and event planner for JET - Japan Europe Trading, one of the main wine and food importers of Japan.
I produce a duo named "CapriBlue", with which I play in the main venues of Japan, in event related to the promotion of the italian culture of the wine.
With CapriBlue I produce an event unique for Japan: "Petit Cafe CapriBlue" a big show in the style of the french and italian cabaret of the belle epoque, where we guest top world burlesque artists.
