Gilad Lippa

Hi, I'm Gilad, an independent filmmaker and screenwriter based in Toronto. Beyond my work as a filmmaker and my passion for all things cinema, I am dedicated to improving the landscape for indie cinemas in Canada, and beyond.

Which is why I'm launching the Indie Cinema Marketing Hub.

​What is the ICMH? A new hub dedicated to providing social activism for, and redefining the value of, indie cinemas as vital components of any community's cultural lifeblood.

What are our goals? We are looking to establish a new community between indie cinemas, indie filmmakers, and the filmgoing public. Through insightful marketing and data analysis tools, our focus will be on identifying, measuring, and developing the social and community impact that indie cinemas have on their given community.

How might this be done? Through a sustainable media program that allows for greater engagement between indie cinemas and their audiences. This will take the form of extracurricular programming around regularly scheduled films, and could involve short film screenings from local or up-and-coming filmmakers, podcasts, interviews, and so much more!

What does this all lead to? Given the current state of indie cinemas in this country and worldwide, now is as urgent a time as any to build a new framework that will not only provide a sustainable business model for indie cinemas going forward, but also foster a much-desired indie film community that shepherds in new, exciting talent and greater presence for them amongst the filmgoing public.
