Gilbert Mwiinga is a mobile software as well as mobile web developer, passionate about using technology for social change.

After graduating from college, Gilbert was employed as an IT intern at VVOB Zambia to do IT related services, from there Gilbert cultivated an interest in developing Software, and was then introduced to Mobile software development. In addition to this Gilbert is now exploring ways technology can help empower disadvantaged groups and spark civic engagement.

Gilbert has been involved in Managing Ushahidi platforms which were deployed in Zambia, one of them being BantuWatch.. for monitoring the 2011 tripartite election process in Zambia, as well as participating in the RHoK (Random Hacks of Kindness) workshop for solving climate problems using Technology.

Gilbert has also attended a Mobile App development training held in Lusaka at #BongoHive, which was Organised by Lukonga Lindunda and Bart Cornille, and coordinated by Dale Zake who is current a Co-Founder at Whitespace, Organizer at Repurposed Labs, Android Developer at Global Viral Forecasting Initiative and Mobile software development project manager at Ushahidi.
