I am a musicologist, medievalist, and cultural historian currently based at the University of Edinburgh, where I am a Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the project "Towards a Prosopography of Scottish Musicians Before the Reformation," supported by funding from the Carnegie Trust.

I am currently at work on an academic book that traces the development of sacred music composed on behalf of and at the behest of British queen consorts from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. I take a historicist perspective that connects music to literature, theatre, and the visual arts in an effort to bridge the sacred/secular and personal/political divides. My other research interests include paleography (textual as well as musical) and medievalism in popular culture.

I have taught in the Musicology and Music Industry programs at UCLA and Southern Methodist University. I earned the PhD in Musicology from UCLA in 2016, where my work was supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. I am lots of fun at parties.

Interested in working with me? Here is a short list of things I can do:

- teach courses on history, culture, gender, and/or writing at your university

- write or fact-check for your publication

- help you create dynamic, thoughtful written work

- consult on your TV series, film, or documentary
