I work as a Project Executive in the Emerging Business Division of IDA Ireland. The Division works to attract high-growth companies to Ireland, many of which are often the first to market with new ideas and new business models in digital media, clean technology, life sciences and mobile technology, who are the seeds of tomorrow's multinationals, whether through organic growth or through merger or acquisition.

Since 2010, over fifty high growth companies from all over the world have chosen Ireland as their launchpad to scale and internationalise their operations. Ireland is well known as the home of global multinationals such as Intel, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Siemens, SAP, Sanofi, Citi and Fujitsu but in addition to this Ireland is also developing a reputation as the go to place for entrepreneurs and high growth companies to start up and scale their businesses from. Homegrown award winning companies such as Skillpages, Storyful, Digit Gaming, Datahug and Profitero add to this vibrant growing tech cluster.

The combination that wins out for Ireland time and time again is a pro-business, technogically advanced environment, an attractive corporate tax rate, an educated and talented workforce and a track record of success, coupled with the right attitude and ambition of its people.

The Emerging Businesses Division targets companies which have recorded historic sales of up to €30 million. Sometimes, these can be businesses that may be setting up their first operation outside of their country of origin or establishing their first presence in the European market. IDA Ireland is well placed to recognise emerging businesses trends from their work with some of the world’s most influential companies in the Life Sciences, ICT, Engineering, Financial Services, Digital Media, Consumer Brand and International Services sectors.
