Gina Vangeli is an award winning pastry Chef with over 30 years of experience. Gina is the founder of Gina Vee and Bite Me Cakes Confectionary Gelati.
She completed her apprenticeship in 1991 at William Angliss College where she won numerous awards, including: Outstanding Apprentice, Best Practical Pastry Cook and Best in Trade Theory.
She then trained in a number of Continental Patisseries transferring to 5 star Hotels including Le Meridian Melbourne, Menzies at Rialto, The Regent, The Sofitel and The Novotel. Her talent, passion and determination drove her quickly up the ranks. She became Head Pastry Chef at the age of 22.
Her work was displayed in a number of hotel lobbies, and she took part in numerous company promotions. She was featured in articles including being featured on the front page of the Epicurean Magazine and Australasian Baker.
She has worked alongside some of the world’s best Chefs and Pastry Cooks, including: Jean Yves Schillinger, from Restaurant Schillinger; Australia’s Garry Megan and the incredible Chocolate genius Paul Joachim.
She ran a successful restaurant on Chapel Street in Melbourne, selling to devote her time to raising four children, whilst wowing family and friends with unique cakes, gelato and flavours. Over the years she has created cakes and cookies for TV personalities, large corporations, organisations and hotels.
Bite Me Cakes Confectionary Gelati was launched in 2013 as a home business. During this time Gina has devoted herself to making pastry goods specific to customer requirements. It is through trial and error, customer feedback and baking for all traditions and cultures that she found a gap in the market, and has relaunched under her my new company Gina Vee Pty. Ltd.
Gina has also gained recognition amongst her peers in the “cake world”, and is often asked to hold demonstrations to teach her craft to culinary students and also demonstrate her products.
Gina was also a writer for the Australasian Baker magazine, along side well know celebrities such as Ed Halmagyi from Better Homes and Gardens. She now writes articles for Bakery Global covering stories around the world.
Gina has a vision for her company to become leaders in the manufacture and development of quality products for the baking industry that taste great, work well, are fun, easily applied and can be enjoyed by all people regardless of social economic status, religious belief, moral choices or dietary requirements.
