Ginés José Muñoz Cánovas
Social Media Manager, archaeology, and history in Alhama de Murcia, España
I am currently a PhD candidate in archaeology. I received my B.A. with Honours inHistory from Murcia University. I have a MA in comparative social history, aswell as two other degrees. I have too a QTS in History and Geography.
My mainfield of study is military history. I am especially interested in ancient wars, warriors, and weapons, particularly in the Punic wars, the roman conquest ofthe Mediterranean and in the medieval battles and sieges in the Kingdom of Murcia. I am also interested in Iberian and Roman civilization in general.
My currentresearch (and dissertation) explores the settlement, control and exploitationof territories in the Spanish southeast, specifically the military conflict between natives and conquerors at different ages, and the cultural role inshaping new colonial political culture and the rhetoric of resistance duringthe crisis periods.
I am a Registered Professional Archaeologist, and I have been working ten years inthis. I also teach archaeological methodology and documentation ofarchaeological artefacts (pottery, glass, etc) in university seminars. Anotherthing I do is coordinate a library of history and conduct site visits andlectures on the historical heritage of Alhama de Murcia. As well as itsdiffusion and promotion in social networks. I collaborate with the local archaeologicalmuseum designing and mounting exposition and curatorial projects.
In my sparetime I like to enjoy my family and friends. And I always try to have time to travel, read, and to work on two projects of historical reenactment, one ofroman legionnaires and another about medieval warriors.
