For more than half my life, it has just been me, my mom and my brother. My dad passed away when I was 9, but I am not writing this to complain or to tell you my sad life story. I think having to grow and live through this experience and everything that came along with it has been one of the most challenging and eye-opening experiences. Most kids don’t really appreciate all that is given to them and they usually take most things for granted. I was no different. I love my parents and all that they did for me, but I sort of expected it sometimes. They were my parents and they provided for me since the day I was born and it never crossed my mind that one day, it could all be gone. But then it happened. My dad was here one day and then the next he wasn’t. I try not to take anything for granted because you literally never know what can happen. It is so important to me to appreciate the people in my life and all the little moments and memories I share with all of them. Of course, it’s hard sometimes, but I have learned the hard way that everything can change in an instant and your entire world can be turned upside down.
