Giovanni Dortch
Scholar, Activist, and Consultant in Tennessee
Greetings! I am Giovanni.
I am a scholar, activist and consultant with a focus on creating intentional scholarship and spaces for African American women, women of color and marginalized communities.
As a Scholar, my research centers on Identity, Inequality and Resistance in the fields of Sociology, Women's Studies and Political Science. I combine Scholarship with Activism in the Reproductive Justice Movement with a focus on health equity, health policy and the social determinants of health. I am currently a Health Policy Scholar at Meharry Medical College.
As a consultant, I utilize my academic expertise in research, non-profit community building skills, and lived experience to support clients in creating live events, building out long term programming as well as organizational infrastructure to deliver effective services and trainings.
When I'm not reading or teaching, I enjoy practicing yoga, learning about technology, and following politics and the arts.
I am available for speaking engagements and instruction within organizations, for media, within universities and special events.
I'm also available to assist your organization whether its at the founding stage and in need of fact based research, to support leadership in building programming and ensuring grant readiness, or to provide training to your staff in the areas of wellness, health policy and advocacy, and using various strategies to accomplish the organizations mission.
