Gizem Akyil

Consultant, Project Manager, and Event Manager in London, United Kingdom

I am an energetic and experienced Consultant, Project and Event Manager. I hold MA degrees in Human Rights and International Relations and a BA degree in International Relations. I was awarded Jean Monnet Scholarship by the European Union in the area of Justice, Freedom and Security. Further to working in various temporary, yet very important roles throughout my studies, I have stepped into professional life in 2007 at Koc University (Istanbul, Turkey) as a Research & Teaching Assistant. During early days of my career, I worked on media and communication projects, built external relations for NGOs and individuals both in domestic and international conferences, prepared legal and political briefings and designed communication strategies.

In the last few years, with the boom of startups and entrepreneurship in every sector and every corner of the world, I have got involved in the foundation of charities, startups, as a Project Manager; I helped them grow and scale their organisation. I organised events to help these organisations reach out to their target audience. In the meantime, I also worked with professionals in private and voluntary sector in the UK and Europe to build sound and detailed analysis of the most recent developments in their respective areas.

Deliveroo, Liberal Democrats, Women's Museum London, Global Rule of Law Forum, UNHCR Turkey, Duy-Kon Special Education Centre are some of the key organisations I have been working with.
