Dimitris Gkoulis is actively engaged in research.
He is a research associate and a PhD candidate in the Dept. of Informatics and Telematics at Harokopio University.
He specializes in full-stack programming, software technology, and distributed systems. His academic focus revolves around the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). His research aims to model and design decentralized, intelligent, event-driven distributed systems based on ephemeral and autonomous context-aware entities. Ultimately, his goal is to develop scalable, resilient, and adaptive IoT architectures capable of seamlessly integrating with dynamic environments while supporting a wide range of applications with high operational efficiency and reliability.
Dimitris Gkoulis is also the founder of DGK94, an R&D software house conducting research, providing tailor-made software development services (Java, Python), actively contributing to the open-source community, and continuously monitoring emerging technologies in the market.
Additionally, he has been an active member of major political organizations for over 12 years, holding key roles in managing large-scale electoral processes, membership registries, GDPR compliance, strategy and communication, campaigns, digital infrastructure, and digital transformation.
