About Me

I am a qualified teacher with an 'Outstanding' PGCE, a First Class Honours in English and an MA in English Renaissance Literature. I have a real passion and enthusiasm for all aspects of English, and I have been studying and teaching the subject for a number of years now. In addition to my subject knowledge and qualifications, I am a friendly and approachable character, and can adapt easily to any situation. I have a very positive and encouraging approach, and will always go that extra mile for my students.

Teaching Experience

I have taught in several sixth form colleges throughout West Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire, and in a comprehensive secondary school in Leeds. I have experience of teaching GCSE, AS and A2 level English (Literature, Language and Lang/Lit).

Further to this, I have experience of one-to-one tuition in a home, college and university setting, tutoring GCSE and A-level students across all English subjects (using exam boards AQA, OCR, Edexcel, and WJEC). I also have experience in tutoring international students, providing support with written and spoken English.

Approach to Tutoring

I have a very flexible approach to tutoring, and always tailor the teaching and learning to the individual student's needs and requirements. Together with the student, I will devise a learning plan to ensure that lessons are structured, progress is monitored and the student gets the maximum out of each session. I have always approached teaching with a level of creativity and innovation, and this enables me to adapt my style and method to suit and engage each individual learner. I also believe that confidence and self-belief are essential to the learning process, and I always strive to develop this in my students.
