In May of 2005, he earned a B.A. in Communications Studies—Mass Media/Cinematography. In 2009, after working as a Systems Project Manager at a major bank, he became severely depressed and entered into a psychiatric facility for treatment. His writing career began in 2010 after his psychologist advised him to write as part of his recovery.
Gil is a maven of classic cinema, with a pastiche rooted in the classics. Heavily influenced by past well-known writers such as Anita Loos, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, Alfred Hitchcock, Ernst Lubitsch, and Stanley Kubrick, his use of thematic echoes, visual motifs, and stylized imagery seen throughout his writing, bespeaks the aesthetics of cinema’s Golden Age. He infuses cinematic elements from both past and present by juxtaposing and amalgamating cinematic components of Hitchcock, Kubrick, and Lubitsch with contemporary styles of Alan Ball, Chris Nolan, and The Wachowski’s.
Gil’s unconventional writing style transcends cinematic artistry in both form and style. It is evident that he, not only has a thorough understanding of varying cinematic writing styles, he also possesses a thorough understanding of screenwriting in producing highly marketable and commercial screenplays. Exceptionally unparalleled and unique, one can see that Gil’s works elicits an efficacious creative energy from within; reemphasizing his expertise within his craft.
