With profound grief it is to inform you that our Respected Father Ch. Gurcharan Lal Datta `Josh' of Kanjrur Dattan left for his heavenly abode on 11.02.2015.
Prayer meeting and Rasam Pagri, will be performed on Saturday 21.02.2015 between 3-4 PM at Arya Samaj Mandir, New Delhi-110017.
Born on 4thSeptember, 1928 to Smt. Vidyawati Datta and Ch. Manohar Lal Datt, in thevillage Kanjrur Dattan (now in Pakistan), Chaudhary Gurcharan Lal Datta, grewup in an illustrious family where various members held public office. Hisdevotion to serving and uplifting people can be attributed to his familybackground.
Throughout his career, spanning more than three decades, he proved himself to be a diligentsubordinate, efficient administrator, capable supervisor and a true leader. Hewas awarded for his consistent professional excellence with First Dak SevaAward on 9th October, 1985 consisting of scroll of honour and cashprize.
Ch. GurcharanLal Datta `Josh’ devoted his life to the General Mohyal Sabha and for it’s growth and development. He worked tirelessly and selflessly because he felt sostrongly for the betterment of the community. Through decades of unwavering devotion, he nurtured the GMS and broughtit to the dizzying heights that it is at today. During a span of 50 years , hehas received much love and good wishes from the whole community without anyill-will, wrath or snub from any quarter. He left no stone unturned in the service of the community and earned kudosfrom his colleagues and leaders of the community.
Noted historian,Raizada P.N.Bali who compiled the “History of Mohyals” contains the following words of appreciation
“Ch. G.L.Datta ’Josh’ is a man of all seasonsassociated with General Mohyal Sabha for decades, he is their volunteer leaderready to take up any assignments. Hisdaughter Uma (now no more) travelled the same path, made name, left a memory.She was the first editor of Mohyal Mitter Hindi section (1982-87) andrejuvenated the Hindi section and mothered it for 6 years”.
