Benjamin Gleitzman is a tinkerer, artist, and founder. By day, he is CTO and Co-Founder of Replicant AI where he teaches machines to talk. By night, he is executive producer at Chinotto Records and founder of the hacker collective Ruse Laboratories.
His career spans the arc of machine learning's evolution since graduating from MIT. Gleitzman was the architect behind Hunch's collective intelligence engine that was acquired by eBay and powers all recommendations across the site. At Google Research, he built App Inventor for Android with Hal Abelson, software that introduced millions to programming. Gleitzman created The Algorithm Auction, the world's first auction of computer code, held at the Smithsonian.
His open-source tool howdoi has been called "a paragon of Python coding." His festival Smangtasia brought 36 hours of underground electronic music to a 400-acre horse farm in the Catskills. He grew up in West Virginia, is fluent in Japanese, and posts useful bits of knowledge at http://glei.tz.
