Glen Surnamer
I am the Chief Operating Officer of Bookigee, an innovative band of professionals from varying backgrounds who have come together to build applications and analytics for the book publishing industry. We are creating value through the construction of an enduring business that will facilitate the evolution of an industry whose customer and product have sprinted into the 21st century. Our company is founded on the beliefs that we need to innovate innovation, job creation does not vote along party lines, domain expertise is at the core of any good business model, the digital age represents a new beginning for readers and consumers of content, and that Einstein was right when he said that imagination is more important than knowledge. My journey commenced on the not so rough streets of Manhattan. After graduating from Emory University with a BA in English in 1994, I spent two years on the NYSE as a floor clerk. I got an MBA in Finance from NYU in 1998, and spent the next 11 years in capital markets and asset management. In 2009 I left NYC for Miami to press the reset button on my "typical" career path with a goal to become more entrepreneurial and supportive of small business initiatives. After spending the early years advising and serving as a director on the Bookigee project, it became clear that the path to achieving my goals was before me. I have been part of the founding team since January 2012 and have never felt better about myself, my partners, or what I am building.
