Glen Farrelly
After ten years working in the Internet industry, Glen Farrelly is currently pursuing a PhD from the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. Glen's doctoral research examines mobile media, geoinformatics, and the interplay with our spatial relationships.
He has a MA in Communication from Royal Roads, an Honours BA in Fine Arts from York University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Internet Management from Humber Cllege. Glen was awarded SSHRC scholarships for his doctoral and master’s research. He has presented and published on his research for various outlets such as IEEE, ASIS&T, Journal of Location Based Services, and ISEA.
Glen's career highlights include managing an e-Business website, developing websites with a dot.com start-up, and launching one of Canada’s first mobile applications. Currently, Glen consults on the strategic integration of digital media. He also works as a course instructor, freelance writer and photographer. His work has been published by Backbone Magazine, Canadian Geographic, McGraw-Hill, Sposa, and MoneySense. Glen is also a research assistant with the Mobile Experience Lab at OCAD University.
