Glen Finnie

Software Engineer in London, United Kingdom

In 1982 I bought my first computer and wrote my first program; the computer was an Apple ][ Plus and the program was an Applesoft BASIC contacts database. For the first few years, most of my coding was in Applesoft or Integer BASIC, unless I was feeling adventurous in which case I would delve into 6502 assembler. At high school computing was a hobby, an interesting extension to science and mathematics but it was never presented as a vocation. It wasn't until I started my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Otago in 1986 that computing started to develop as a viable career.
