Just recently we had informed you about the International Champions Cup match that was set for July 29 in between Genuine Madrid and AS Roma. At the time it was presumed that AT&T Arena in Arlington would act as host of the summertime clash.
But now it is official, the game will be in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl instead. The match is a big win for the City of Dallas, who made the announcement on Thursday from the Cotton Bowl.
A representative of the tournament said quality gamers must be showcased by both teams even though the video game kicks off simply weeks after the conclusion of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"We expect these groups to play with their greatest lineup," stated Ben Spencer, Director of Communications of Relevent Sports, the group operating the competition.
The International Champions Cup is in its second year and is an eight-team round-robin tournament with matches across the United States. Teams playing in other cities consist of: Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, A.C. Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Olympiacos.
Once we have ticket info we will make sure to pass it along to you all on here or by means of our Twitter feed (don't forget to follow us by the method!).
Are you thrilled for a match that will really be in Dallas and not in Arlington? I can currently state I am all set for this one. Simply understanding that I will not be driving to Arlington from the North Dallas side of the DFW Metroplex makes me truly delighted for this match.
The summertime window is readied to open soon for Major League Soccer clubs, so what should FC Dallas do?
