Globalbike Charlotte

"Two Wheels Making a World of Difference"

Globalbike was started by six friends in a Spartanburg, SC coffee shop after a conversaion about changing the world with bicycles. That meeting led to 10 bikes being purchased for caregivers in Zambia, who could visit more patients by cycling instead of walking. Today, Globalbike has thousands bikes on the ground in seven developing nations.

To further the Globalbike message, In 2007 Globalbike started Team Globalbike Elite Cycling Team. Then in 2008, they expanded with their first "Chapter Team" in the Upstate of South Carolina. In 2009, Patrick Coffey of Spartanburg made a temperary move to Charlotte, where he met Mark Gonda. The two of them starting Chapter Team #2, expanding Globalbike's reach.

Today Globalbike Charlotte represents Globalbike in the area's road races, criteriums, time trials, triathlons, and charity events.

A Simple Mission: use the transformative power of bikes to create positive social change in the developing world.

Our Contagious Vision: a world where bicycles and creative partnerships provide those in need with access to the health care and vital services critical to their collective prosperity.
