I retired from 34 years in public service more than three years ago. I was fortunate to have a very varied and often enthralling career but that is the past now and my focus is forward-looking.

I have embarked on writing as a principle pastime and vocation. I have enjoyed reading and writing since I was a child. Now I have the time, at last, to explore and practice that craft. I have written three books, two of which feature a retired police detective and his reluctant associate as they stumble across little puzzles whilst busy trying to run an antiques business. This has turned into a series with a new book due out soon. I try not to restrict my writing to any specific genre and I do have another style of book out there and would like to try my hand at writing for magazines, so we shall see what happens! Those works I have published can be found on 'Amazon.co.uk/Amazon.com'.

Professionally I am a tutor in the Law and Policing Department of a UK University. I recently qualified as an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am a lifelong and passionate fan of The Beatles, I love their music, their legend and I collect all sorts of memorabilia associated with the group. They provide the incidental music to the story of my life.

In terms of leisure I play guitar and drums with a fervour and commitment which outshines any actual talent but I do enjoy it. I try to keep fit and I enjoy exploring the UK, which has many beautiful, enchanting nooks and crannies and maybe one day I shall have a writing den, near the coast, in one of them.
