Matthew Gogela

Golden, Colorado

My name is Matthew Gogela, and I am currently a senior in the Petroleum Engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines (CSM). I am very interested in Reservoir and Production Engineering. However, I would like to be put into a rotation of the four PE disciplines before selecting one which I would name to be my specialty.

Recently, I was employed by CSM for one semester (Fall 2014) as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the following course: PEGN 305 - Computational Methods in Petroleum Engineering. This course combines VBA programming with petroleum engineering methods, concepts, and techniques to analyze petroleum data sets in excel. As a TA, my primary functions were to oversee programming labs, hold office hours as a supplementary information source for students, proctor exams, and evaluate the performance of the students. In the Spring 2015 semester at CSM, I will be a TA for the following course: PEGN 411: Mechanics of Petroleum Production. This course focuses on production engineering, and will help me to further refine my skills within this discipline.

I have found great interest in the field of petroleum engineering. I have much passion for this field, as the level of complexity and diversity is very attractive to me. I believe that the key to working in this field is through strong teamwork. Feel free to contact me if there is anything more which you would like to know, or for networking purposes.
