Fanny and Leo Mencoboni opened a Framingham MA neighborhood grocery store in 1946. Each night, Fanny would prepare dinner for her family in the back room. The fabulous aromas made shoppers ask “what’s for dinner?” and many tried to buy whatever she was cooking. They insisted she sell them her salad dressing and sauce. Mrs. Mencoboni's spaghetti sauce" became a weekly tradition in the neighborhood.In 1950 as the sauce, porchetta, homemade sausages and roast chicken became big favorites, the store was remodeled, making half of it the "Spaghetti House" In 1951 the entire building became the restaurant and renamed "La Cantina" We hope you enjoy your dining experience.
