When I started my career in the supply chain business during the dot com years, knowing my clients product was first on the shelf for the Christmas season just wasn’t enough to get me up in the morning. Something was missing.

And while I learned and grew a lot as a manager and leader in Information Technology, I went back to school for my Executive MBA, where I learned about the triple bottom line - environmental and social profit can exist alongside financial profit.

And so I made the bold move to get out of industry, and for the last 8 years have been helping not for profit organizations get clear on how to fund themselves so they can be leaders for their causes.

Creative problem solving, leading transformative change, marketing, and fundraising, are the main transferable skill sets that have enabled my success. But above all, I thrive and love working collaboratively, building great teams, and crafting and implementing great strategy. As a change agent and builder, I bring an infectious “can-do” attitude and a skill set to constantly refine and iterate in an industry that often embraces the status quo.

My skillset has allowed me to work in many sectors: In education, I led the transformation of an independent school by building a daycare and a healthy enrolment funnel. In healthcare, I helped a research focused community services provider commercialize their intellectual property. And in employment, I implemented modern digital marketing and fundraising strategies to attract job seekers and position the organization as a solution provider to employers and donors.

I’m now looking to work with organizations who embrace the idea of shared value –investment capital, providing shareholders a return on their investment, has a role to help deliver a positive social or environmental impact. Government spending on social problems has shrunk since 2008 and is not coming back.

The “granting dollar” model needs some help - its time for change, and I can help
